Cannot override social security withheld in W-2s, December 9, 2011

So I am currently on the phone for the second day in a row – 2 hours yesterday (lady was very nice and helpful) problem was escalated to be fixed. For those that do payroll, you should understand. I was working on the W-2s for my 2 employees. The amount of medicare and social security withheld was different from the calculated amount – this is from rounding differences as they are added up through the year. TurboTax is well aware of this and has a checkbox so that you can overwrite the calculated values to correctly enter what was withheld and not get errors – and this is what I want to do because I want to report to the IRS what was withheld. However, the checkbox does not work to allow overwrite of the social security amount. So yesterday, they escalated the problem. However, today I get a phone call to just change the W-2 to match the calculated amount! That is unacceptable – you must report to the IRS exactly what was withheld. Furthermore, their program does acknowledge this and is suppose to allow it (hence the checkbox), but it does not work for the social security amount withheld!

This has to be fixed – I know I will not be the only one with this issue. I am sure it will be, but getting them to understand the issue appears to be the main issue now!

When this product was first posted on Amazon it was incorrectly labelled by Amazon as being compatible with the OSX, Apple’s operating system. Turbotax and Amazon were both very attentive to correcting the error. I really can’t comment on how the program operates, but for whatever it’s worth, I’m adding stars just because everyone did what customers would hope they’d do without delay.

Will it run on a Mac?, December 6, 2011

TurboTax website specifically states that the Business version will not run on a Mac. Amazon says that it will. I’m betting that it won’t.
Update: Amazon has finally revised the system requirements to exclude Macs.
