Your level of creativity is the only limit with this great value program.
I downloaded the FREE trial of this software from Sony Creative Software and mucked around with it for a whole month, to see if it would do the things I wanted. I am using Acid Music Studio 8.0 to create sound effects and soundtracks for my YouTube videos and my multi-media video artwork.
This program would suit the home musician or the musician just starting out with a limited budget who would like a professional program to record and mix their music.I warn anyone who is creative, that this software is Highly Addictive. You can spend many, many hours exploring all the inbuilt synthesizer preset programs and tweek them with an infinity of different settings contained within the Fx Effects chains.
You can also use the 3.5 Gigabytes of loops and samples that come with the “purchased copy” (not available with trial), to construct your own music in just a few clicks.
Please note something once you have downloaded the “loops & samples”:
In the explorer view tab of Acid Music Studio, make sure you click the View button and tick all options – especially tick “Show All Files”, otherwise you may freak out and think that you can’t access the loops and samples.
This is a MIDI file based program, actually a very large part of the program. So if you want to make the most of using Acid Music Studio 8.0, then get a MIDI to USB connection so that you can connect a Synthesizer Keyboard to your computer. If you do this, you gain amazing control of the program and can control the inbuilt synth on your computer.
You will have to be patient in learning how to set things up, if working with connected instruments. There are a lot of little settings that have to be set just right for the sound & MIDI files to communicate in both directions. There is a fairly good Help file which will teach you how to do things, but as they say: Rome wasn’t built in one day!
This product really seems to have hit the mark this time with Version 8.0
I use it with Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum HD 10 production suite and it works just fine.
I’m not a musician, just a novice.
Whether you are a novice or a musician, I’m sure you will love this program.
Ridiculous value for money – honestly.

Replaces Acid Pro 7 for a fraction of the price.,
I have been using the ACID programs for several years. I started with ACID studio 2.0 and then 3.0. The things that were missing on those programs were the “Chopper” (which lets you easily take pieces of music and turn them into loops) and the ability to do work with midi. Those for a long time were the extras you got by buying Acid Pro. Acid Pro was a very expensive program IMO, you could expect to pay $200 to $300 for it. With Acid Music Studio 8 you now get all the major features of Pro including the chopper and midi for much less money. There must be a new Pro version coming soon, and it might have some big new features we have not seen in Acid before, but for my money this new Music Studio does everything the existing Pro version does for much less money.

Took configuration, but works with my M-audio interface- now I am hooked on it!,
LOve it! I really like it. Sorry audacity, I am not going back to you for my music anymore. I graduated to acid 8! I have done some great things with this, and it is nice that I dont have to spend too too much money on software to get thsi sound. It is tough configuring sometimes. I spent many frustrated hours trying to get my m-audio fast track pro to work with this thing. But, I did it! Finally! NOw, theres no turning back. It is sorta addicting, like another reviewer said. Especially if you have anmy musical know how, which you probably do if you want this software. I like the beat mapping. With some slight tweaking you can actually use metronome count offs and all sorts of great things. I am still new to it, and look forward to getting better with the software. Its great. Worth it to me, especially with a limited budget after other investmenbts (xlr mic, audio interface, ect)
*TIP* LATENCY MAY BE YOUR WORST PROBLEM WITH THIS SPFTWARE- OR ANY SOFTWARE- GET AN AUDIO INTERFACE, AND SET YOUR LATENCY ON IT TO MATCH THE SETTINGS IN THE SOFTWARE. I HAVE MY INTERFACE SET AT 128 AND THE SOFTWARE SET TO MATCH IT AT 128. NO MORE LATENCY!
